A personal art Journey to a not so faraway place

Distillery district
Burrito Boys..oh so yummy fare..I happened upon this little treasure of a restaurant by chance..what a find!
gorgeous blown glass
distillery building.fine architecture!

OCAD grad exhibit..the building has changed substantially from my 70's years there

A weekend visit to Toronto was stimulating and inspirational..It is important to step out of my comfortable little world now and then and explore ..On foot or transit all weekend gave me my experiences up close ..and I felt quite positive about my encounters with people and the youthful creative energy of Queen West and the wonderful art village called the Distillery District..Thanks to an artist friend from Toronto..I was able to partake in her Cafe Society art group..tour distillery galleries and enjoy a yummy meal/and satisfying conversation in the Mill street brewery there with a group of like/art minded people ..The beer was exceptionally good on a sunny afternoon..and the company was warm and envigorating..later an art opening of one of the Cafe artists downtown on Queen West added another layer of experience to the day ..more good chat..and then when the music level climbed higher to ear shattering decibels we bid farewell to the night....

Darling Desboro

Well I spent a little time meandering (something I tend not to do these days) in Desboro ..I had just finished with my tutoring at Sullivan school..and walked over to the town centre to explore a little while my little car was being made a little safer for me(brakes!) at the local garage ..Peaceful,sleepy and with a perfect crossroads ..I saw beauty in this little town when I paid closer attention to the details..and was on foot ..so had to take in sights slowly..

Contemplating the green

lovely alpacas ..fur & feather show
mini goat
pot bellies..
tulips in Guelph
Guelph greyhound

I am quite content just to watch the grass grow these days..what a concept! Yes it is indeed growing again..which after all that snow blanketing the world feels like a miracle of sorts..Senses are open again-birds announce their joy and mayhem, flowers start to tentatively open.Frost still presents it's unwelcome self recent morning..but the green is the marker of a new season,,no going back until October!A visit to Guelph last weekend was adventurous..new sights..new stimuli..And the Fur and feather show in Mount Forest offered the experience of witnessing such beautiful (and sorrowful) creatures of every form up close.

Artist Susan Lindsay's incredible work!

another Susan Lindsay art piece..

I cannot believe how in love I feel..blissful...reborn ..fresh..in love with me and the world..grateful..peaceful..etc

Attended an opening of a most wonderous, conceptual show on Friday..a merging of poets and visual artists and it was food for my soul..I had two paintings displayed and my poem(dedicated to my art) read out loud..ahhh..sigh..Is there anything better?
Yesterday I was sick..(damn cold/flu) but sat in the sun and let it heal me. I had a true ME day..rare..drove to Durham Ontario and indulged myself in the eye candy of a newly discovered art supply store and spoke with the proprieter and his sweet and most sincere and helpful daughters..Enjoyed the curvey and bendy and hilly rural scape as I travelled there..not in a rush..Ate lunch in a naturally soulful, bustling eatery..avocado hummus wrap with curried carrot soup..yummy..and attended my art friend's opening in a historical, grand mansion/bookshop in town...The setting was marvellous ..and I bought a small piece of hers with a crow..again personally indulgent....chatted with a few of the guests and treated myself to a 1/2 glass of red wine....smile..picking my teenage daughter up from work in town and finally getting opportunity to view her friend's goats..I held a little black baby goat bleeting in my arms..total love..total ,pure pleasure..now today is a new day..my cold is waning..I feel energized once more!

In absolute awe of children's art!

The last month has been a wonderful journey with an amazing group of elementary students who have taught me so much about being loose, imaginative and joyful about creating..the class was titled Art in a box..and featured 4 mixed media projects..from altered books, journals to assemblage..

assemblage.. student art in box!

It has been so wonderful watching art evolve in this class over last 4 sessions..so free..liberating ..such natural artists at work!

art class ..jewels of creativity
