Although it was a lovely day..it felt fresh and the hint of new growth and life was in the air..

Well I managed to get to the studio and felt quite productive (after a pit stop to pick up a lovely distressed preloved pink wheel barrow at Habitat for humanity Restore..and some wood chips for garden at the city compost pit..must have been inspiration!

easily distracted

Lately Spring and new burgeoning growth have been on my mind..Discovering what might new on our property..what natural surprises may entice me outside..noticing some jaunty daffodils and buds on the clematis..hmmm. I am easily distracted here and it's probably a good thing that my studio is in town.

I f I can just get there..The threat of a rainshower may propel me away..

I have been working on a few new portrait paintings and have been considering new doll projects also..

I have started to make art dolls again..out of a need to diversify and create 3 dimensional works. Stemming from my love of ancient , and stirring faces from the past I have merged present with past. The first series utilizes fabric faces transfers sewn into colourful felt bodies ,embellished with beads and objects..stuffed and wired in places for "bendability"..The second series starts with muslim fabric, painted, distressed and loosely machine and hand sewn for a primitive funky affect..

feeling inspired .feeling tired

I've been tired and melancholy/mopey lately.Maybe it's the juxtaposition of these feelings that creates a sudden surge to create. Walking the dogs this morning with just a rustle from the grass and our own padding sound of footsteps down the trail..an urge to sing again while later puttering down the highway ..I bought a giant rusted star this afternoon and attended the library's annual book sale ..this after mooching around studio in town ...lit a candle and painted a small piece..felt peaceful.
